I hope everyone's been tuning in to Discovery Channel's 11part series Planet Earth. The final product was produced superbly (they really use camera angles and speed amazingly well, better than any animal/wildlife show I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot) paired with music that makes for a riveting and powerful experience.
I've loved animals my whole life, and most of the animals shown thus far (I've only seen the first two parts) I'm familiar with for the most part, with a few lesser known, and some totally surprised by.
I loved the part about the volacnoes in the Danakil Depression. The Okavango river delta in the middle of the Kalahari, Africa. The highlands of Ethiopia. All credited to a camera technology usually saved for movie-making. Thank you, Bank of America and the Nature Conservancy.
Check out the trailer from YouTube, but visit the sneak peak and highlights (my fave is the snow leaopard in the Mountains episode) and the website to get a better idea of how beautiful a series it is.
Sigourney Weaver is the voice, but that must have only been for the first hour. AFAIK a guy does the rest. Hmm.
