Chevelle's song Brainiac off their latest album confuses me.  I *love* the song, but the lyrics just baffle me.  And I am a total lyric-nutcase.  So this conundrum is driving me insane.  I mean, really, look at this chorus, doesn't it just make you go "uh.. wha?"

Apparrantly I am in a totally sap-tastic state of mine when it comes to music.  What other reason is there for buying the Daughtry album on a friend/coworker's mention of "I can't believe how much I like the music.."  We are both cringing in self-disgust, and yet listening to the music, now.  Great.

I almost bought the Hinder album but decided not to.  I have 5 songs that I love already, what's the likelihood I'll like the rest of the album?  I hate to waste money like that..

Given my most recent music taste, this is an... abrupt departure.

WOO!  My sister and I are going to see Loreena McKennit tonight at the Civic Opera House!  Damn, this came up fast.  Tickets are still on sale, for those Chicagoans out there...  We are in aisle 4, front and center.  Soooo coool...

A times.. I like emo (sort of) music. 30 Seconds to Mars is what I'm currently thinking of (though there have been others over the years).  I think it is a product of my super secret, alter personality, FanGirlRox!  Or something.  Back to the most hilarious part of this story.  I am fascinated by the video for From Yesterday by 30 Seconds to Mars, and I was bored so I watched for the umpteenth time on OnDemand (because I do not watch Heroes) and after it was over I decided to finally do something about my fascination.  I was thinking openly of a wallpaper or something.  But what do I find, on imdb.com?  The singer is Jared Leto?!?!  I'm giving away my age category when I keel over from a resurgence of long-forgotten teenage (or was it pre-teen? 13?) crush-lust. 

It's a small world, ne?

If you haven't seen the video, watch it!  (You can mute it for all I care, I just think it's beautiful visually)  Bizarro and fascinating.  At times Jared looks too thin, but despite that he looks AWESOME in eye makeup.  And I am so impressed that that voice is his.  Wow.

YESSS!  New Samurai Champloo on OnDemand.  I've previously posted the 7th ending theme to InuYasha with Namie Amuro as something I can't stop myself from listening to.  And, as I started to watch Samurai Champloo, I realized that I could not force myself to skip past the intro.  I just really like it.  Even though the first time I heard it was like "wtf is this?!" because it didn't fit the stereotypical anime intro I expected.  I can be won over.  (Hmm maybe I should have kept that quiet.)

Who would have thought Ugly Kid Joe's cover of Sabbath's NIB would be so awesome?  Some nights me and Jason find musical harmony.  Tonight is one of those nights.  Kick ass.  Listen to Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake, and then listen to God Given off of Year Zero by Nails.  Really.  Do it!  I expect reactions.

This photo was taken of a flyer on the billboard outside where I work on campus.  I am really hoping to attend because I'm craving some positive social interaction.

Listening to World Cafe tonight (and glad I made it back to my desk, laptop and radio when I did!)  Loreena McKennit is being interviewed, and listening to her live performances are amazing.  I am SO glad I bought tickets to see her in Chicago, May 1st!  My sister and I got center+front seats, too! 

I am most amazed at hearing the electric guitar in "Stolen Child"!!!  I need to pull this album up for my plasma donation tomorrow, and give it a re-listen.  Her visitations to *ancient* narrative poetry are my absolute favorite pieces of hers.

Whoa. One of the fangirls on my LJ friends list posted about the jrock revolution in LA over Memorial Day weekend.  Apparantly they have a myspace.

It's quite amusing that as I read/type this, I'm listening to This American Life on NPR and it's about a japanese pop star come to America and the drama around her.. (vox, myspace, facebook, youtube)
