I saw this on haruszpapa (via imgs.xkcd.com ) and found it to be GREATLY amusing.

Who would have thought Ugly Kid Joe's cover of Sabbath's NIB would be so awesome? Some nights me and Jason find musical harmony. Tonight is one of those nights. Kick ass. Listen to Sexy Back by Justin Timberlake, and then listen to God Given off of Year Zero by Nails. Really. Do it! I expect reactions.
Whoa. One of the fangirls on my LJ friends list posted about the jrock revolution in LA over Memorial Day weekend. Apparantly they have a myspace.
It's quite amusing that as I read/type this, I'm listening to This American Life on NPR and it's about a japanese pop star come to America and the drama around her.. (vox, myspace, facebook, youtube)
Working at a library, shelving books, gives one the chance to "discover" some great hidden book-treasures. Here's a sample of what I found. I created a collection for the rest.
Who know that so many great books existed?!
They were always seeking volunteers especially in the children's section. FYI, if you have kids, this is a great volunteer option for them in your community!
"One more reason to come watch Wait Wait Don't Tell Me at the Chase Auditorium...
Cuz Mayor Daley can call the bull dozers any ole' time he wants!"
Or something like that. I couldn't stop cackling witih glee at it.
I love Chicago Public Radio's Wait! ads!
I heard this on American Weekend on WNIJ and nearly died laughing, which was sort of dangerous seeing as how I was driving at the time. Definitely one of those great NPR moments.
While many people prepare to go Easter egg hunting this weekend in Chicago, professionals are gearing up in search of Canadian goose eggs. Over the last 20 years, the geese have been wreaking havoc on the local parks. After volunteers find the eggs, a select team of pros will "handle" the eggs to curb the overpopulation of the geese. Weekend America host Bill Radke speaks with Susan Hagberg, president of Wild Goose Chase, about how these geese have overstayed their welcome.

Follow Susan Hagberg as she goes hunting for goose eggs (1:46).
This might now be my favorite NPR program.
Wild Goose Chase is based out of La Grange, very near my home 'burb.
I saw this on the WGN-9-Chicago morning news. It's probably been out forever, but I've never seen/heard of it and found it hilarious (once I finished waking up I was able to express it appropriately).

Ah.. Thank you for the morning of laughs, jibjab.com
And wow, it is just wrong to hear a sponsor-ad on NPR for Miracle-Gro that claims to "Help keep America green"! They do a great job of writing the script to make it sound like they do a healthy, green/environmental service.
I have added links. It is quite difficult to restrict myself to only 5 (I have just over 10 on my Livejournal) but s'okay. Not all are equal. I only miss not including my public radio and broadcasting links, and a couple of my non-vox, non-lj blog-friends. :( Sadness. If you want to discover whom I find fascinating, wander ot my typepad or my livejournal.
The typebad has blogrolling on the side bar. But warning: I hardly post to Typepad. It is my "more serious" thoughts. Actually more like a storage dump for interesting to me tidbits, primarily astrology related. It also contains quite a few old old old diaryland imported posts that look like crap from which began when I went active duty after 9-11, but it was a whole lot of nothing.
Ahem.
So, the links.
Ideal Bite is a FANTASTIC daily email. I highly suggest you sign up. If not, but you'd like a taste, ask me and I will forward one of my faves to you. If that doesn't wet your appetite I don't know what will. You Grow Girl is great for the Garden Hoes and Dirt Luvrs in all of us. Oh My Gods is a lovely little online comic strip done by a guy in Southern Illinois (somewhere.. I think Champaign but I'm not sure). Think Pagan humor with cartoons that look like SouthPark, almost. I love the giggles I get from it. Free Will Astrology is a very interesting weekly-updated astrology site. Prepare to have your mind blown (like today's gem). And, last but by no means least, Mighty Goods is one of the best random shopping sites out there! Really. It soothes my shopping-beast soul.
Chicago politics amuse/frustrate me. My ambivalence about democrats stems from the Boss-mentality and the feel of corruption that still to this day permeates so much of community and government life in Chicago-land, Burbia and all.
This morning I was listening to Eight Forty-Eight on Chicago Public Radio and nearly choked on my coffee because an interview with a Ward Alderman turned slightly.. ridiculous.
Major Upset in the 53rd Ward
We talk with 53rd Ward Alderman Ed Bus, who now faces his first run-off election in 49 years.
Ed Bus is the creation of the improv comedy group, Schadenfreude. You can see Schadenfreude live on stage, Saturday March 3 at the Wilmette Theater.
I'm not sure who the interviewee was, but Steve Edwards was a SAINT to put up with him, and impressive to try and pin the guy down. Just keeping him on the right radio station was a challenge! When his political-staffer handed the phone to the guy, he was surprised (and not pleased) to learn he wasn't talking to B96!! And at first he didn't realise he was on the air! So he cuts Edwards off, and yells out to his staffer "Hey this isn't B96 Whaddya doin?!" with the accent and all.
As if that wasn't enough, he then smugly tells Edwards how wrong he is to think that the Alderman is facing a run-off election, he has 92% of the vote (by God!) and if the poll results Edwards has aren't saying that then just wait and see... Ahem. And people wonder why corruption is so suspected in Chicago-land! There is arrogance, and then there is stupidity! This guy was LIVE and sounded like an arrogant and smug ass.
Oh, and after that spiel, he continues to ignore Edward's questions (because they are all based around the state that the Alderman finds himself facing a run-off) and hunts down his wife (yelling no less...) because she's running for something or involved in something and SHE sounded like a complete dimwit.
I hope it was a joke, but I really don't think it was. And it was. I've been had! Listen to the .mp3
